The '2024 MWM (Moving the World with Music) Conference,' hosted by the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA), was successfully held at the Grand Hyatt Seoul. The event discussed the impact of AI and virtual artists on the music industry and the potential for global expansion of K-pop. Experts highlighted the use of AI technology for copyright protection, the entry of virtual idols into the performance market, and various success stories, re-examining the future competitiveness of K-pop.
Speakers included cultural critic Jung Deok-hyun, Supertone CEO Lee Gyo-gu, and BMAT researcher Emilio Molina, who explored new possibilities through the fusion of K-pop and virtual artists. Kim Young-min, head of production at Parabol Entertainment, presented on the expanding performance potential of virtual artists, including the success story of the virtual idol group, ISEKAI IDOL.
KMCA Chairman Kim Chang-hwan emphasized the significant changes that the rise of artificial intelligence and virtual artists are bringing to the music industry, stating that this conference would serve as an important forum for exploring the direction of sustainable development in the music industry.
