The National Palace Museum announced that it will hold a special exhibition, 'Notre Dame Cathedral Augmented Reality Special Exhibition,' from July 2nd. This exhibition, in collaboration with the French company Histovery, recreates the 860-year history of Notre Dame Cathedral using Augmented Reality (AR). Visitors can use tablets to experience various historical moments, from the cathedral's construction to its 2019 fire restoration process.
Notre Dame Cathedral, which suffered significant damage in the 2019 fire, is scheduled to reopen in December this year. This exhibition conveys the history and cultural value of the cathedral and is being held in Seoul after touring 15 cities worldwide. The exhibition will continue until September 1st.
Visitors can vividly experience the construction of the Gothic choir stalls, Napoleon's coronation, and the construction site of the spire through AR technology. In particular, the scene depicting the firefighters' suppression efforts during the fire realistically recreates the urgent situation. This exhibition limits the number of simultaneous visitors to under 100 to provide a comfortable viewing environment.
